Double Dutch Braid with Extensions

Hey my dear ones,

today I´ve got a hairstyle for you, which is currently very in fashion, not only because the Kardashians are wearing it constantly. I love to wear these double dutch braids in my everyday life, as I think they look very edgy and stylish. Unfortunately I don´t have very thick hair, so that I like to wear clip-in-extensions for my braided hairstyles. Since it´s not that easy to hide the extensions under these braids, I will show you how to attach them in your hair, so that nobody will see them.

So let´s go ahead and get started. Here´s what you´ll need:
  • a tail comb
  • a hair brush
  • two (clear) elastic bands
  • some bobby pins
  • and of course clip-in-extensions (except you have thick hair ;D)
As a first step part your hair in the middle of your head and clip one section away. If you want to attach some clip-in extensions, continue with step 3 & 4. Part your hair again, where you want your braid to be, because you want to attach your extensions right under the braids, so that they´re perfectly hidden.

I use the 22" clip-in-extensions from Milk and Blush in "stalker worthy", of this set I will attach two 3 clip wefts, four 2 clip wefts and two 1 clip wefts. Of course you can use wefts with another number of clips, just make sure that they cover the whole parting and leave a 3 fingers wide part without extensions directly above your forehead, like you can see it in picture 5.

Start dutchbraiding your hair: Crab a little section from above your forehead and divide it into three strands. Put the bottom strand under the middle strand, than put the upper strand under the middle. Then add a little bit of hair to the bottom strand and put it under the middle strand. Add a little bit of hair from above to the upper strand and put it under the middle strand.

Continue braiding like this until you reach the nape of your neck and all of the hair is added to the braid, then go on with a normal braid and secure it with an elastic band. Don´t worry, if some of your clip-in extensions are shining thru your hair after you braided it, you can fix this in the next step.

The next step is maybe the most important one: Loosen up the braid by slightly pulling the sides apart, like I did in pic 12. I like to start this at the top op my head, go down and then up again. You can loosen it up as much as you need to cover the extensions and if your braid is prodruding a bit too much from your head, you can fix this easily with some bobby pins.

Now you´re through with the first braid. Just do the same thing on the other side and you´re done! I hope, you liked the tutorial and would be happy, to see some of your tries! If you have any questions or suggestions, just leave them below in the comments.

Hugs,

Four Strand Fishtail Braided Updo

Hello my dear ones,
Due to the fact that many of you asked me how I created my four strand fishtail braided updo, I made a quick tutorial for you. I love especially this hairstyle so much, because you can wear it classy or messy - for special occasions or just for your everyday life.

What you´ll need:
At first I put in my 22" Milk and Blush Hair Extensions in  "stalker worthy" and curled my hair.
Start by sectioning your hair. At first part your hair into 2 parts, then part each again into two parts. Make sure that you have long hair in both far-outside strands. That´s why I like to keep the shorter hair, which frames my face, in the two inside sections (as you can see in the two pictures above).

After that, take a small piece of the right most strand, put it over this exact strand, tunnel it under the right and over the left of the two inside strands and add it to the left most strand. Now, repeat these steps, but alternately switch starting positions (left/right most strand): take a small piece of the left most strand, put it over this exact strand, tunnel it under the left and over the right of the two inside strands and add it to the right most strand. Now it should look like this:

After finishing these first two steps, you won´t need to look after your previous sectioning anymore and it will get easier with every further step you braid. I like to keep the outer sections secured by my pinkie all the time, so that the new added strands can´t flip away.
Keep going like this until you reach the end of your neck and secure each one of the two outer strands with an elastic band.

The next step is my favorite one: By loosening up the braid, you can make it look massier. The further you loosen, the massier it looks.

If you like to wear it as an updo, just wrap the ponytail around your hand, until it fits under the fishtail braid and you can´t see it any more. Secure it in place with some bobby pins and you´re almost done.

In the last step, I like to secure the hair above the braid with some bobby pins if it´s too loose and fix some protruding hair.
